Happy New Year, neighbors! Before our 2026 cleanups begin (on February 21st), we are reflecting on the successes of our 2025 program. We are so thankful for all of the cleanup volunteers and community supporters that drive our program. Together, we picked up 7,570 lbs. of trash and debris around Silver City. That's an incredible total for just ten, morning cleanups! The trash we collected included cigarettes and bottles dropped as litter, wrappers blown out of trash cans and dumpsters by the wind, highway debris from uncovered loads and accidents, and household items that floated away during storms. City workers and Department of Transportation staff work constantly to clean up this trash, but there's just too much. Our entire community needs to work together to change habits, improve our waste management systems, and pick up the litter that has already fallen on the ground.
